Summary: It isn't Arthur's fault he's a villain. He was just raised that way. People should be feeling sorry for him, really, have you seen the mask and costume combos Morgana's been making him wear? Sympathy please. And of course, because the world hates him that much, he would be sent to Camelot, where the only living warlock with any power left studies, apparently destined to be a superhero.
The battle of nature vs nurture flares; will they choose to be Merlin and Arthur, fated lovers, or Emrys and The Dragon Prince, rivals to the bitter end?
Author's Notes: The two obvious ones first: I'd like to thank ortthree for her absolutely outstanding art! I mean I looked at them and nearly hyperventilated my way to an early grave I was so amazed by them. So thank you so much for creating something so amazing and I hope to work with you again.
Also, jadesfire, dear lord that woman is my savior. She has babied me and put up with my obsessive semi-colon abuse and is so perfect there aren't even words. Some of your encouragement wanted to make me cry. You really made me believe in myself so thank you so much. I literally couldn't have done this without you.
I'm just going to list everyone else, because this isn't the Oscars: So to shadowofrazia for doing the read through for me, you caught so much stuff we missed. I'd like to add zairaalbereo, wawrthur and deminos001 to this list as well, because you guys listened to me whine loads and your opinions were so valuable. And incandescent thanks for helping me work out kinks even though you were so busy.
Also, to crimsonswirls for being so supportive and doing some preliminary drawings for me when I panicked about the masks not working. That got my confidence back, thank you dear, have some cookies.
Basically every one else in the PL chat, you guys were always there and I'm made some really good friends.
And of course, the_muppet, for tireless hard work and putting this entire thing together.
Artist's Notes: I had fun doing this. Both were done in graphite and white gel pen. Merlin's my favorite but I'd kill to get Arthur's broach. Thank you darkravenwrote for letting me work with her and for having such an interesting idea.
